I have tried many cataloguing programs in past but when I first tried this program I realized that all of other programs were nowhere near competition with CD Bank Cataloguer.
User friendly! I love CD Bank Cataloguer for its great useability and also for the features which are added to the program when users request them. I am a perfectionist so there is only a very few number of applications including this program that falls into my beloved apps category.
Excellent Support! CD Bank Cataloguer has a great support forum. Unlike many others, CD Bank Cataloguer developers actively listen to what users say. From what’s there to see in CD Bank Cataloguer, I can confidently say that it is built with passion.
Unique! One of the biggest concerns I had with cataloguing programs is that the catalogue database file can get bigger as the time goes by, so gradually the programs takes more time to load. CD Bank Cataloguer uniquely overcomes this problem by storing disk information in small files. CD Bank Cataloguer loads blistering fast no matter how many disks you have in the database.
Fast! Not only loading speed is fast. It reads a whole CD/DVD in seconds making you wonder how the program did it that quick. Searching for the right disk has never been easier. It uses Windows search style. For example if you search for a folder called: “wget 2.10” it will also list folders such as “wget_2.10” and “wget-2.10” so you will never miss a result. You can also fine tune your search results by storing meta-data to disks.
Portable! Another impressive quality of CD Bank Cataloguer is that you have install CD Bank Catalogue only once; I mean you can just install future updates over it. You can reinstall Windows and CD Bank will still work without the need of reinstallation of the program. I have it installed in Documents folder (so that when I backup my Documents the CD Bank data gets backed up automatically).
Plug-ins! I am also glad to see CD Bank Cataloguer is extensible by the use of plug-ins. Very useful plug-ins such as Comparator, DiskToHTML, Front CD Cover and Micro CD Sticker can be found under Disk Utilities menu.
Another thing I highly value is its rapid development. New builds with new features are released often and file size is less than 2 MiB which makes the dialup users happy.
I think this review looks almost like a description by the people who made it because this program is that good and I respect the developers’ passion and effort that they have put into this great product. You will see that passion in them if you visit Developers’ Diary in the forums.
